Bjørn Wiinblad (1919-2006)

Dane Bjørn Wiinblad was a versatile artist who started his career painting in oils but soon expanded into a range of media that included metals, glass, stage and poster design, furniture, illustrations, textiles and, perahps most notably, ceramics.

His unique style is immediately recognizable and is an almost iconic representation of the decades of his greatest acclaim. His work is popular the world over and especially admired in Japan.

From 1946 to 1956, he did work for Nymolle. Much of his work in this period is unsigned. In 1952, he opened his own studio with Gutte Eriksen under Jacob Bang. He did work for Rosenthal beginning in 1957, for services, vases, glass, candleholder, candlesticks, utensils, pots and ceramics.
